Two Injured in Crash in Orleans’ Stop and Shop Parking Lot

Car accidents are a fairly common occurrence in Cape Cod and throughout Massachusetts.  It is one of the main reasons most drivers carry some form of vehicle insurance, to protect themselves from assorted claims.  People who are injured in accidents that are caused by the negligence of another driver, are entitled to compensation for their suffering and losses.  It is important that victims of such car accidents reach out to a local injury attorney as soon as possible after the incident occurs, in order to protect their right to a maximum recovery.

The Cape Cod Today reported on a recent crash that took place on June 18, in a Stop and Shop parking lot in Orleans.  The accident involved a motorcycle and a car.  Keep in mind that as the summer months are upon us, it is likely that we will see an increase in motorcyclists on the roads. Many people take vacations in Cape Cod and, especially in the summer, motorcyclists can enjoy the warm weather as they bike through the area. However, accidents involving motorcycle riders often result in serious injuries due to the lack of protection.

According to the article, two people were hurt in the collision at the entrance to the Stop and Shop plaza at Route 6A and Old County Road Monday evening.  Local police and firefighters responded to the crash and arrived on the scene.  The officers found the operator of the motorcycle, his passenger, as well as the motorcycle, in the roadway.  The two injured parties were brought to Cape Cod Hospital in Orleans.  The extent of the their injuries was unknown.  As for the car involved in the crash, the only information provided is that it was in the Stop and Shop parking lot at the time of the accident.  The police were continuing to investigate the crash, and so far, no charges have been filed against any of the parties.

If you have been injured in a car accident and believe it was caused by the negligence of another driver, there are items to consider as you prepare your claims.  It is important to determine the precise cause of the accident to understand what happened.  Some questions to ask yourself include the following: 1) did the driver go through a red light; 2) did the person “rear end” you because they were not paying close enough attention to the road (due to texting, making a cell phone call, or simply checking some social media account); 3) did another car sideswipe you on the freeway; 4) was the other driver drinking and driving; or 5) did the car malfunction in any way, such as a blown out tire or some other mechanical problem?

It is difficult to understand how the accident occurred in the incident described above.  That is, it is not clear whether either driver was at fault.  Perhaps, after a thorough investigation, the police and the parties will have a better picture of the issue of negligence.  While insurance companies often try to minimize the payout to claimants, an effective and experienced injury attorney can help to achieve the best possible settlement under the circumstances.
